The mission of the Maine Maritime Academy's Boat Donation Program is to provide equipment,
funds & facilities that enhance & encourage student involvement &participation
in the waterfront training & sailing programs, including professional training.
Your purchase of a donated boat assists us in our endeavor to provide this.
 

 

Benefits of Donating Your Sailing or Motor Yacht to Maine Maritime Academy

  • Donating your boat will help provide equipment, funds, and facilities which enhance and encourage student involvement and participation in Waterfront training

  • With the continued support of donations like yours, our students have access to more boats where they receive training in their upkeep and gain additional seamanship skills in their operation.

  • Your donation can contribute to Sail Training, Racing, Small Vessel Operation, Varsity Sailing,  Recreational Boating and Marine Biology Science Experience.

  • The Boat Donation Program Department makes it easy to donate your sailing or motor yacht to the Academy. We will take over the upkeep of your yacht until sold. No longer will you have those costs associated with the upkeep and maintenance of your vessel. Maine Maritime Academy’s yacht and boat donation program gives alumni and friends an opportunity to provide funds, equipment and facilities necessary to enhance and promote student participation in the unique Waterfront training and sailing programs.

You will receive the satisfaction of knowing your donation will benefit many students by providing an opportunity for them to develop seamanship and leadership skills. By donating your yacht you are eligible to receive a tax deduction for the fair market value of the vessel.

In the United States, charitable giving to qualified non-profit organizations has long been encouraged by the federal government.  The IRS encourages financial support of these organizations.  The MAINE MARITIME ACADEMY qualifies as such an entity, under IRS Code 501(c)(3) and the IRS has continued our designation of this approval over many years.
