Hold Tight (Sail No. 106) is Hull #5 of the Pemaquid class of Friendship Sloops completely built by the Jarvis Newman Boatyard in Southwest Harbor, Maine. She has a solid fiberglass hull with a cored fiberglass deck assembly with trim pieces of varnished teak. Her current owner has sailed her over 15 years, taking good care of her with upgrades and maintenance with a 2007-8 major refit of new engine, wiring & electrical panel, head & holding tank, etc. If you are looking for a classic Maine sloop that sails with stability and beauty, Hold Tight is worth your attention!

Construction
Solid handlaid fiberglass hull built using 8 layers of fiberglass plus reinforcing. One-piece molded fiberglass deck assembly with self-bailing and watertight cockpit with molded-in non-skid. Engine stringers re-fiberglassed 2008. Outside mounted 2000-lb. lead keel fastened with bronze bolts. Deck and cockpit scuppers piped overboard. Varnished teak cockpit seats, bridge deck, companionway, toe rails and trim. Custom bronze hardware and Edson steering with teak wheel. Bottom stripped and coated with epoxy barrier, 2015.

Port and Starboard storage lockers with SS sink w/hand pump, 2-burner Kenyon Homestrand alcohol stove, Formica counters and storage below and outboard. White bulkheads, varnished teak trim, and varnished teak & holly sole. Six opening ports, 2 bronze cabintop dorade vents, and sliding hatch cover provide good ventilation and light. An efficient, clean and well-designed cabin.
Up in the spacious cockpit, the area seats 6 comfortably. Edson worm steering, varnished wheel, pedestal compass. Bronze jib cleats port & starboard. On foredeck is sampson post and access to bowsprit and headsails.
