This is Hull #36 out of a total of only 40 Alaskan 46s built by American Marine Ltd. (better known these days for their Grand Banks line). The present owner has lived aboard her comfortably for ten years on the coast of Maine, but has been forced to move back on land for medical reasons.
She has been just been hauled out of the water for its regular biannual maintenance and thus presents a great opportunity for inspection and survey. Shibumi has a lot of life left in her, and her bottom appears good, clean and tight. Engines were started recently and fired up instantly.
This boat needs a lot of cosmetic work, general repairs and updating, but could be a real find for a handy owner who is capable of doing some of the work him(or her)self. We will respond only to serious inquiries from knowledgeable wooden boat people. A buyer should plan on a spending around $2,000. for a full survey.
