60' ALDEN SCHOONER - SOLD

Dirigo II is a 72' John Alden designed double top masted schooner. Ordered in 1939 by Charoles Van Sicklan of Michigan, and built by the prestigeous Goudy and Stevens Yard in East Boothbay, Maine. She is capable of sailing any ocean, any weather, with safety and speed. Her second owner, Jim Crawford, circumnavigated the globe and also campaigned her in the 1953 Transpac. Recent ongoing restorations includes all new stanchions, chainplates, and about 20% of her planking. The mainmast is also newly hued from Douglas Fir. She was delivered From Washington State to Long Beach in 1998 during two separate gales and logged 180 mile days downwind.
