Designed by renowned naval architect Ed Monk Jr., built by Roughwater Boats, Taiwan for US importer Hal Paris, the Roughwater 37 combines traditional Pacific Northwest trawler design with rugged fiberglass construction, economical diesel power, and practical accommodations in an easily managed 37-foot cruising boat.
With her efficient semi-displacement hull, full-length protective keel, and shallow 4-foot draft, PRONTO is particularly well suited to East Coast cruising - comfortable and capable for day trips, weekends aboard and short coastal cruises.
PRONTO is powered by a professionally rebuilt Perkins ST6-354M 200 HP turbo diesel and has benefited from an extensive professional refit completed between 2024 and 2026.

CONSTRUCTION
One-piece hand-laid fiberglass hull construction utilizing alternating layers of woven roving and mat approximately 3/4" thick with additional reinforcement in transom corners, stern sections, and keel areas.
Marine plywood-cored deck and superstructure encapsulated in fiberglass.
Full-length keel provides directional stability and protects the running gear.

DINETTE
The raised U-shaped dinette offers panoramic visibility, making it an inviting place for dining, relaxing, or enjoying the scenery while underway. A varnished teak hi-lo table lowers easily to convert the dinette into a double berth when additional sleeping accommodations are needed. Storage includes lockers and drawers, with substantial additional space beneath the settee and behind the backrests.
PILOTHOUSE & MAIN CABIN
The main cabin and pilothouse combine classic yacht craftsmanship with practical cruising comfort. Herreshoff-style off-white bulkheads and overhead contrast with varnished teak trim, a traditional teak sole, exposed teak ceiling battens, and finely crafted joinery, giving the interior the warm character of a classic Ed Monk trawler. Expansive wraparound windows provide abundant natural light and excellent visibility.
To port, a full-length sliding settee provides comfortable seating and converts to a double berth. Forward is a built-in mate's seat with storage below. All cushions are in very good condition and were professionally cleaned in 2025.
The lower helm features a varnished teak destroyer wheel, modern electronics, opening side windows, twin windshield wipers, and excellent visibility whether seated or standing. A sliding door provides convenient access to the aft cockpit.

Professional work included complete rewiring with new AC and DC electrical panels, 30-amp shore power, factory rebuilding of the windlass with new heavy-duty wiring, renewed interior AC wiring and outlets, updated helm gauges and single-lever controls, and new electronics as detailed elsewhere in this listing.
The Perkins diesel was professionally rebuilt by Dark Harbor Boatyard in 2021 at a cost of approximately $28,000. The rebuild included a new engine block, turbocharger, and exhaust system. The engine has approximately 450 hours since rebuild.
Combined with approximately 1,400 hours of restoration and improvements completed by the current owner between 2024 and 2026, PRONTO represents an extensively updated example of the Roughwater 37.
Originally designed for Pacific Northwest cruising, PRONTO is rarely found on the East Coast. Her rugged hand-laid fiberglass construction, full-length protective keel, economical single-diesel power, and shallow 4-foot draft make her particularly well suited to East Coast day cruising, weekends aboard, and comfortable short coastal cruises.
