40' Pelagic Blue Water Cruising Sloop - SOLD

Punahele is a 40' sloop ready to take her next owner on their cruising adventure. Built in Vancouver she placed well in the 1967 trans-pac race the year she was launched. Most of her life was spent cruising to Hawaii and the South Pacific. The current owner sailed her on the West Coast for a short time and then trucked the boat cross country where she has been for the last 10+ years.

This boat has had significant work done on her including a repower in 2010 with a Westerbeke 55c and would be ready to head to take her next owners for extended cruising from Maine to the Bahamas without breaking the bank.

Accommodations
Enter from the cockpit to through the companionway there is a roomy galley to port, with sink next to 3 burner stove oven. Opposite the galley is a large stand up navigation station with a roomy front opening Norcold refrigerator below. The good looking dog house above decks translates into plenty of light in the galley/ navigation area.

Stepping down one step to a folding centerline mounted table with berth seating to port and starboard. Above the port berth, there ais a comfortable pilot berth. Over the starboard berth is ample storage in several lockers with shelves inside. Forward of the starboard berth are two hanging lockers. There is a fireplace nest to the hanging lockers and opposite of the head.

Another step up and you enter the roomy forward cabin with v-berth which has good storage and adequate ventilation.

2009/2010 Refit

Punahele was refitted at the Marblehead trading company in Marblehead Massachusetts in 2009/2010.

She was re powered with a Westerbeke 55 c with newAdmiralty panel and a high output 120 amp duel pulley alternator was installed to charge the two 8D house batteries.
Primary winches were replaced with 2 #46 Harkin self tailing winches.
Topsides were restored with white Allgrip
All lifelines were replaced and the stanchions were re-bedded.
Standing rigging was replaced.
Ideal anchor windless restored to new condition by the Ideal company
The forward hatch has hand the old lexan replaced with new smoked lexan
A new 316 stainless steel 42 gal potable water tank custom built by Luther's in RI.

Deck and mechanical Equipment
Large dinghy davits capable of lifting a good size dinghy or small RIB. (there is a dinghy in the pictures, which is not included in the sale.)
The cockpit is deep, comfortable and safe in a seaway. Harkin #46 Primary winches and Barlow #26 secondary winches provide ample power to tame sales
Just forward of the doghouse cabin is a properly vented teak LPG storage box
45# CQR Anchor on 160 feet of chain and 200 feet of line handled by a rebuilt anchor windlass
Sails are not new, but are in good serviceable condition.
